Glowing, but at what cost?

I’m always on the lookout for products I can use on my skin that I am not allergic to. I have very sensitive skin so sometimes it can be quite difficult, and it’s a lot of trial and error. From sunscreens to face washes, lotions, and body scrubs, I always manage to find stuff I am allergic to.

Most of the time, anything organic that I come across is typically something I can use, but sometimes that doesn’t give the luxurious results I want (unfortunately).

My skin was honestly struggling. Parched…gasping for hydration like the way you gasp for air after coming up from underwater.

So, what’s the solution? Well, apparently, it’s Primally Pure’s Citrus + Mint Body Butter—a ridiculously rich, bioactive blend of fancy farm-sourced ingredients that promise to deeply nourish your poor, neglected skin. Sounds great, right?

Before we dive in, however, let’s address the elephant in the room: this stuff is not cheap!

4 oz. jar? $30.

8 oz. jar? $54.

Yep, you read that right. That’s “I could buy a decent steak” money. But hear me out—this isn’t your basic, watered-down, drugstore lotion.

This is grass-fed, organic, regenerative farm-to-skin luxury.

If you’re used to slathering on whatever $5 bottle of lotion you grabbed in a panic, brace yourself.

A little goes a long way with this stuff. Unlike that sad, chemical-filled goop you’ve been using, this body butter actually absorbs and does something instead of just sitting on top of your skin pretending to moisturize.

I gave this body butter the ultimate test—the everything shower. You know the one. Full hair wash, deep conditioning, fresh shave, exfoliation—the kind of shower where you step out feeling reborn.

First impressions? The packaging is classy—an elegant, matte green glass jar with a plastic screw-on lid. Definitely gives the clean girl aesthetic.

You know what was a little frustrating about this butter though?

Rock solid. When I scooped some out, I honestly wondered if I’d made a mistake. It felt dense, like it would take forever to spread. And, well, it kind of did. I worked it into my skin in small amounts, and it took some effort. Then it hit me—oh, right. It’s meant to be applied to damp skin.

Rookie mistake.

Lesson learned: Follow the instructions (if you have read other blogs of mine- following instructions isn’t always my strong suit).

Applying it on damp skin makes a world of difference—it spreads way easier and absorbs faster.

The citrus + mint scent is light and refreshing, not overpowering.

This is perfect if you love layering perfumes and body sprays because it won’t clash with your other scents. No “I walked through the perfume aisle at the mall” vibes here.

I’ve been on a body butter journey lately, and while I love the long-lasting hydration they provide, I’m not always a fan of the initial greasy feeling. Thankfully, this one absorbs much quicker than other butters I’ve tried. Big win.

But here’s the real tea: It didn’t keep my skin hydrated quite as long as a few of the other body butters I have tried. It still did the job, don’t get me wrong, but I found myself wanting to reapply sooner than expected.

Would I buy it again? Possibly. It’s definitely a solid (pun intended) body butter—nourishing, clean ingredients, and faster-absorbing than most. But for the price? I was hoping for hydration that lasted a bit longer.

If you love a high-quality, clean-ingredient moisturizer and don’t mind a bit of a learning curve (a.k.a. applying on damp skin for the best results), this might be the one for you.

For me? I like it. I might even love it. But I’m not putting a ring on it just yet.

Now, go forth and glow. ✨
